From humble beginnings singing in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio, Jay has risen to become a nationally renowned and acclaimed actor and vocal powerhouse. Having traversed a broad musical landscape, from opera to rock, from Shakespeare to musical theatre, and from intimate stages to sellout performances at Madison Square Garden, Jay has only begun what he considers a truly wonderful journey.
Jay received his earliest musical inspiration from his mother, to whom he dedicates his gift. Further formal training in the arts was garnered at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio and the PlayMakers Repertory Theatre in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
In the 90's, Jay has fond memories of honing his love of rock and roll with the bands Buck Naked and No Boundaries, during which he performed in a multitude of eclectic venues and formed invaluable friendships with fellow performers and fans.
In 2002 Jay was a featured vocalist on "Only Heaven", a musical collaboration between the poet Langston Hughes, the renowned composer Ricky Ian Gordon, and various stars from the world of opera and musical theatre.
But it was in 2004 that Jay would join the explosive entity that would forever change his life, when he was fortunate enough to become a part of the platinum-selling rock phenomenon The Trans-Siberian Orchestra. His unforgettable performance of "Prince of Peace" has become a beloved classic and garnered him the fan nickname "Prince of Pierce."
Since then he has been fortunate enough to perform alongside such legendary artists as Joan Jett, Ian Hunter of Mott the Hoople, Jon Anderson of Yes, Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Roger Daltrey of The Who, and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith.
Jay's other interests include traveling, cooking, films, and art in all its forms.
